The Problem, The Solution & Other Applications
How CFRS Works
The Problem…
What is Foundation Failure?
When a property owner notices cracks in the foundation or interior and exterior walls, it may be a sign of structure settlement.
Settlement can continue over the life of the home and cause substantial damage.
Additionally, exterior wall separations allow moisture intrusions which can quickly destroy framing and wallboard.
These problems can make a house difficult if not impossible to sell.
Signs of foundation failure:
Here are some things to look for as signs of foundation failure:
Exterior Wall
- Cracks in brick veneer
- Separation around doors and windows
- Cracks in foundation wall below siding
Basement
- Leaning or bowing walls
- Cracks in wall
- Water leakage
Interior Wall
- Cracks in sheetrock or plaster
- Sticking or misaligned doors and windows
- Floors sloping
- Floor or tile cracks
Chimney
- Chimney rotating out
- Separation from house
Causes of foundation failure
- Improper compaction of soils at the time of building.
- Uncontrolled water flow under and/or around the house.
- Fill dirt containing limbs, stumps, etc., that decompose over time to create voids below the foundation.

Galvanized Steel Lifting Bracket
The unique advantage of the Carolina Foundation Repair System is the galvanized steel lifting bracket. This bracket has been designed to support well over 100,000 pounds of load, making it both strong and versatile.
Moreover, our bracket resists the tendency that most other systems have to “pull away” from your house during the stablization process. This combined with the unmatched corrosion protection of hot-dip galvanization results in a premium product, far superior to that, of any other on the market.
Cylindrical-Shaft Helical Piles
- Commercial buildings
- Residential structures
- Average to large chimneys
- Available in 2 7/8″ & 3.5″ diameters
- Available with multiple flights as required
- More lateral strength than square bar piles
Square-Shaft Helical Pile
- Standard duty residential structures
- Small chimneys
- Retention anchors
- Limited access applications
Other Applications
Concrete Slab Bracket
Slab brackets are designed to provide mechanical support of the concrete slab.
Holes are cored through the slab and helical piles are installed to load bearing soil.
A slab bracket is attached to the top of the pile and adjusted to permanently support the concrete slab.
Tieback Anchor
The CFR Systems tieback anchor provides an excellent solution for failing basement walls, retaining walls, and bulkheads.
When these structures fail due to inadequate support and soil pressures, CFR tiebacks incorporate steel wall plates to provide permanent stabilization.
New Construction Pile
When it is determined that the underlying soils of a new construction project are inadequate, new construction helical piles can be installed to provide stabilization for the new footing.
The new footing is poured over the new construction pile caps, which become a single foundation unit, thereby transferring load to the helical flight deep into stable soils.
